A workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was conducted in Raa Teacher Resource Centre, from 16th to 21st of October. This workshop was a joint effort of the North Province Education Unit and Raa Teacher Resource Centre. The workshop was aimed for the Professional Development Coordinators of Raa Atoll schools.
Contents of the 6 day workshop included different ways of incorporating ICT in teaching and learning in the classroom. 19 teachers from Raa Atoll schools participated in workshop. All the sessions of the workshop were facilitated by Teacher Educator of R.TRC Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed.

A workshop conducted for leading teachers of North province schools on child friendly schooling concluded in Raa. TRC from 17th to 22nd of April 2010. Deputy State Minister of North Province Ms. Aminath Jameel and Raa Atoll Counselor Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed participated in the closing ceremony.
32 leading teachers from 31 different schools of North Province participated in this workshop which was aimed at strengthening school based supervision and updating leading teachers on child-friendly active learning methodology.
This 42 hour workshop, funded by UNICEF was conducted by CCE in collaboration with Raa Atoll Education Centre, from 17th to 22nd April 2010. The workshop was facilitated by teacher educators of CCE.

A workshop was held for the untrained teachers working in the schools of Raa Atoll. The workshop which was organized in coordination with the Centre for Continuing Education and Raa Atoll Teacher Resource Centre was conducted with the aim of instructing the teachers the basic teaching skills. Physical education skills were also taught in the workshop.
Teacher Educators of CCE and PD coordinators facilitated the sessions for the workshop which was held from 19th to 26th of March. 53 untrained teachers from 13 schools participated in the workshop which was held in Raa Dhuvaafaru in collaboration with Raa Dhuvaafaru Primary School and Raa Atoll School.
The closing ceremony was held on 25th of March. The Deputy State Minister Ms. Aminath Jameel and Raa Atoll Councilor Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed and Deputy Director General of CCE Mr. Adam Shareef participated in the meeting

A professional development review meeting for PD coordinators of Raa Atoll schools was conducted at Inguraidhoo School on 8th of May. 16 PD coordinators participated the meeting. The meeting aimed to discuss about the professional development activities conducted in the school.
The meeting was arranged by Raa Atoll Teacher Resource Centre in collaboration with Inguraidhoo School. PD coordinators presented PPT on how well they conducted PD day 1 in their school. They also discussed about planned activities for the next PD day and future programmes which can be conducted in the school
Parental awareness meetings have been conducted at different school throughout the year. These meetings aimed to aware the parenting skills and academic related areas. Details of the meetings of 2010 are given below;
11 January 2010 – Awareness meeting for newly joined parents at RAEC.
20 January 2010 – Parental Awareness meeting for parents of Grade 2 and 3 conducted at RAEC.
21 January 2010 – Awareness program for Grade 4 parents of RAEC.
30 January 2010 – Parental awareness program for the parents of Inguraidhoo School.
9 to 11 February 2010 – Parental awareness program for RAEC parents. 140 parents participated.
27 April 2010 – Parent awareness meeting on Parents’ Role for the parents of Ungoofaaru School.
28 April 2010 – Parent awareness meeting held at Alifushi School. CFS parents attended the meeting.
28 April 2010 – Parent awareness meeting conducted at Vaadhoo School.
29 April 2010 – Parent awareness program conducted for the parents of Rasgetheem School.
An information technology course is in progress in Raa TRC. The course is aimed for the teachers of Raa Atoll Education Centre. 42 teachers participated the ICT course, 25 local teachers and 14 expatriate teachers. 54 hour course will include ways of inserting information communication technology (ICT) in teaching.
The sessions of the course include introducing different software which can be used to plan and conduct interactive lessons in a classroom. The participants will make ICT interactive resources for the subject content in all grades.
TRC arranged monitoring visits from 27th to 30th April 2010 with the help of island schools. TRC coordinator visited 4 schools; Ungoofaaru School, Alifushi School, Vaadhoo School and Rasgetheemu Schools. The main aim of visiting these schools is that to observe CFS classes and assist the teachers to improve teaching style. Some workshop sessions and parent awareness meetings also conducted during the visits.
